Zama Carburetor Number Guide
Updated 2026-05-20
How to read Zama carburetor numbers and avoid ordering a carburetor that only looks similar to the original unit.
Find the Stamped Carb Number
Zama numbers are usually stamped or printed on the carb body. Use that number before trusting a listing title that mentions only the equipment model.
Small differences in linkage arm, choke plate, purge port, or fuel-inlet direction can make a near-match unusable.
Match More Than the Mounting Pattern
A replacement carburetor should match the bolt spacing, throttle linkage, choke setup, primer routing, gasket stack, and fuel-line orientation.
If the old carb number is unreadable, compare photos and dimensions against the model page and the removed part.
Rebuild Kit or Complete Carb
A diaphragm kit can solve hard starting after storage when the original carb body is clean and undamaged.
A complete carburetor is usually faster when the check valves, shafts, or body passages are damaged, but it still needs exact fitment verification.
